A NEW PACKAGE OF MEASURES TO ENCOURAGE MARRIED SINGAPOREANS TO HAVE BABIES WILL BE INTRODUCED NEXT MONTH.
DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER (DPM) WONG KAN SENG SAID.
SPEAKING AT THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS OF THE KK WOMEN'S & CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL YESTERDAY, DPM WONG WARNED OF THE RISKS AHEAD IF SINGAPORE'S BIRTH RATE WAS NOT BOOSTED.
DPM WONG, WHO IS ALSO MINISTER-IN-CHARGE OF POPULATION ISUES, SAID OF SINGAPORE'S LOW TOTAL FERTILITY RATE OF 1.29:
"IF THIS RATE IS NOT INCREASED, SINGAPORE'S POPULATION WILL BE HALVED BEYOND 2070, WITHOUT AN INFLOW OF FOREIGN IMMIGRANTS."

and this, Mr Government is what Izz Afiq and Izz Wafa's mother wants you to deliberate :
1. increase in baby bonus pay-out
2. 6 months paid maternity leave
3. followed by another 6months half-paid maternity leave
4. option to take another 6 months to a year unpaid leave from the employer with assurance that the job will still be waiting for her upon her return in the workforce
5. flexi-working hours, ie. introduce a half day work-week for mothers who decide to return to the workforce after 1-year maternity leave. of course, full wage still applies with employer bears half of the wage and the government another half until the child turns 3
6. fully subsidised childcare
7. abort maid-levy
8. maid wages paid by Government till child turns 3
9. fully subsidised medical care made deductible from Medisave for newborn up to 6 years of age
10.free 1-yr supply disposable diapers and milk formula and other necessities in the form of coupons/vouchers
so, is this good news for you, Mr Government.....you think?
